I started teaching the guitar back in 1979 (now I even teach some of my former student’s kids… how did that happen?)
From the foundational work of basic technique and music reading to advanced improvisation on rhythm & lead guitar, my goal is to make you an independent guitar player. I want you to have the knowledge, the listening ability and, of course, the chops on the guitar to learn and play any song you’d like. All you’ll need is your guitar and a pick, a spiral notebook and a folder with pockets – and you’ll need to practice!
I began my piano lessons when I was 7. Within a few short years, I was playing Beethoven, Liszt, Chopin and Bach. But my favorites were more like Scott Joplin and Simon & Garfunkel!
With both traditional and improv styles, fundamentals come first! From Disney tunes and pop songs to music by the masters, we’ll work on technique, theory, sight-reading and ear training.
f you’re feeling creative, we can also study composition and improvisation. I even have some students who record their own songs in my studio!
